Is it possible to collaborate with other schools to expand the range of possible subjects?

As a Realschule student, you need an average of 3.0 in written subjects and 3.0 in non-written subjects.

Yes, starting with the school year 2021/2022, an internship in the upper secondary school is mandatory. Information on this will be provided by the school in due course.

Will teachers change, or how many teachers will they have in 5th grade?

The teachers will change in the individual subjects. There are class teachers and subject teachers.

What is the minimum requirement (grade) for high school?

As a guideline, the grades in the written subjects (Mathematics, General Studies and German) must not add up to more than 7, with the emphasis on Mathematics and German. For example, a 2 in German, a 2 in Mathematics, and a 3 in General Studies adds up to 7.

How many subjects are there and what are they?

Written subjects are: German, Mathematics, English, French/Arabic. Non-written subjects in 5th grade are: Physics, Biology, History, Geography, Music, Art, Physical Education, Islamic Studies/Ethics, Qatari History, IT, Learning how to Learn.

Are all subjects weighted the same?

The written subjects are weighted more heavily, but all subjects are relevant for successfully completing the yea

How many tests do the students have and are there different tests?

In the written subjects, the number of class tests per year corresponds to the number of hours taught in that subject per week. In the non-written subjects, there may be one long test and several short tests per semester.

How can poor grades be improved?

A poor grade in a written subject must be compensated by a grade of at least “satisfactory” in a written subject. In the case of a poor grade in a non-written subject, a grade of at least “satisfactory” in a non-written subject is sufficient. The school’s regulations regarding completing the year apply.

Yes, the DaF coordinator in responsible for the distribution of DaF hours among the children.

How is the German grade calculated?

The German grade is composed of the DaF grade (50%) and the regular German lessons (50%). Grades are rounded up. Example: a 2 in DaF and a 5 in regular German results in an average is 3.5 so the final grade would be a 4. The German grade is always the main focus.

Which types of notebooks are available?

There are different writing rulings for each grade level in the elementary school. All the materials that students need for Grades 1 to 4 (notebooks, pens, binders…) are on the materials list and can be found on our school’s website under the download section (https://www.ds-doha.de/en/download/).

What is a loose-leaf binder?

What is a mail folder?

Messages to parents go into a mail folder. The mail folder is only used in 1st grade to send messages (in the form of a parent letter) to parents. From 2nd grade onwards, the elementary school students use white assignment booklet (sold at school) to write down important dates and details.

What are so-called learn-to-write pens?

Learn-to-write pens can help your child with their first writing attempts and swing exercises. They come in different shapes and designs.

Does my child need a fountain pen? Starting when?

Yes. The children write with a fountain pen starting in 2nd grade (around the 2nd semester).

Where can I get the homework booklet with Sunday as the starting day?

The white assignment booklet is available at the SNAGGIES shop in the school. It has the weekly division from Sunday to Thursday.

When does the material need to be brought to school?

Parents have the option of buying the materials themselves in Germany or at the SNAGGIES shop at the school. There you will find the correct loose-leaf binders, fountain pens, white exercise book and the arithmetic exercise books and writing exercise books in the appropriate rulings, both in DIN A4 and DIN A5, according to availability.

Where can I get school supplies? What is Snaggies?

What books do the children receive?

What snacks is appropriate for breaks?

A healthy breakfast is always a good idea. Do not provide sweets like chocolate or popcorn, but also do not give hot food for breakfast, such as hamburgers or fries or pasta with tomato sauce. > The healthy school snack

Water?

How do I know what homework has been assigned?

The class teacher or the subject teacher will tell the students which assignments they will receive. Assignments are entered in the homework booklet, which should be consulted daily.

Are grades given in 1st grade?

In 1st grade, the children receive a report card. This report card contains a description of the skills that the children have learned in the individual subjects.
