“Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Johannes Vermeer is one of the most famous paintings in the world—and one of the most mysterious. To this day, no one knows who the girl really was. It is precisely this openness that makes the painting so special to us. In art class, our students demonstrated that creativity isn’t limited to traditional methods. Under guidance, they first analyzed the painting and then gave the girl a completely new identity: Who could she be today? What story lies behind her? With the help of AI, these ideas were brought to life. It quickly became clear: language is the key. The more precise the description, the more convincing the result.
The children learned to use digital tools creatively for themselves, to develop their own ideas, and to implement them in a targeted way.
This creates an exciting fusion of art, language, and AI—and entirely new perspectives on familiar works.
