Drop-off and Pick-up Timings
Compliance with the drop-off and pick-up timings is important to the kindergarten and to your children. Children should arrive at the kindergarten between 07:30 and 08:00 am so that they can start playing and learning together at the same time in the group.
Core hours of the kindergarten are from 08:00 am – 12:30 pm. Children have to be picked up by 02:35 pm at the latest.
Should it be necessary to pick up a child during the core hours in exceptional cases, please inform the teacher thereof already in the morning. In case of an emergency, call us at 6682 8414.
Authorization
In order to guarantee the safety of your children, it is crucial to inform the kindergarten in
writing of all persons authorized to pick up your children. Only those persons listed are allowed to pick up your children from the kindergarten. A copy of the ID of each authorized person is mandatory. Please submit the copy/copies to reception.
Illness
Your child should stay home with the following illness:
- High temperature (more than 37.7 degrees Celsius)
- Diarrhea and vomiting (at present or at least twice within the past 24 hours)
- Running nose (purulent rhinitis)
- Incrusted and watery eyes
- Sore throat and constant coughing
- Constant itching and scratching of the skin or skin rash
- Constant crying
Children should stay at home in such cases to ensure that other children and teachers do not get infected. The kindergarten must be notified in case of any contagious disease your child or a family member suffers from e.g. measles, rubella, chickenpox, scarlet fever, pertussis, and diphtheria. Attendance at Kindergarten in such event is not permitted.
In case of injuries a child might incur at kindergarten, an incident report will be written and provided to the parents for further acknowledgment.
In general, no medicine is administered to children by kindergarten staff, with the exception of extraordinary circumstances and only after submission of a medical report and a written authorization by parents.
Toileting skills
Upon admission to kindergarten children must be able to use the toilet alone. However, if an accident happens, it is not a big issue either. We will just ask the child to go to the toilet earlier next time and will help with washing and getting changed.
Initial Period of Settling-In
The acclimatization period varies from child to child and depends on the child’s individual behaviour. Usually, it takes between one and three weeks. The reference person can be contacted at any time during school hours. The child can rely on the fact that he/she is picked up at the agreed time. The adaptation phase is finished when the child has established a relationship with the Kindergarten. For children, a clear farewell ritual is important, e.g. short waving at the door. That symbolic separation makes adapting to the new situation easier for the child.
Daily routine
Every group has a fixed daily routine. On some days it might change. Additionally, the daily routine will be adapted to the needs of the children and the group.
Food and Drinks
If a child cannot or must not eat/drink certain food due to religious or health reason, parents need to inform the kindergarten teachers so that it can be considered. As far as possible, the kindergarten focuses on healthy nutrition. Kindly bring a healthy breakfast (no Nutella sandwiches, chocolate bars, cookies or soft drinks). The kindergarten provides children with water, if they forget to bring their water bottles. Kindly acknowledge that no sweets should be given to the children. Exceptions only occur on special occasions such as birthdays or small parties.
Birthdays
Each group celebrates children’s birthdays individually. Certainly, parents can prepare a cake on such occasion. Kindly arrange with the kindergarten teachers in advance.
Change of Address
Parents are obliged to inform Mrs. Daniela Fakhoury at the Administration Office and the class teacher immediately of any change of address, phone number, and email address in order to reach them in an emergency.
Toys
Please don’t give your child any toys to bring to kindergarten.
Trips
Together with the children, the kindergarten occasionally goes on a field trip. In order for their child to participate, parents need to sign an agreement form.
