Class 8B recently went on an exciting school trip to Purple Island, which focused on learning outside the classroom. The trip was organized by Frau Bahssou and gave the students the opportunity to learn about Qatar’s unique mangrove ecosystem and develop a greater awareness of environmental and nature conservation.
During a guided kayak tour, the students gained insights into the importance of mangroves for biodiversity, coastal protection and climate change mitigation. As part of the program item “Replanting Baby Mangroves ”, the students also took part in a mangrove planting as an example and learned about practical measures to preserve this sensitive ecosystem.
In addition to scientific content, kayaking together strengthened coordination, self-confidence and teamwork. The students also learned more about Qatar’s maritime history, including the tradition of pearl diving and the historical production of purple dye.
Joint sporting activities and an environmental campaign to collect garbage rounded off the successful day and also promoted cohesion within the class.
The excursion successfully combined technical learning with practical experiences in nature and left a very positive impression on everyone involved.
