On the initiative of our IB student Anton, his father, Professor Atef Botros, Head of the Comparative Studies Department at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies,, came to a lecture in the German Languages course on the topic: “Kafka’s Complete Works”. Inspired by reading “The Metamorphosis”, we were interested in the relationships that Professor Botros sees between the life and work of Kafka based on his own research. We decided on a biographical analysis of the interpretation, which had to be questioned critically. The entertaining lecture sparked a desire for repetition, even if not all of them became Kafka fans …
Franz Kafka lived from 1883 to 1924 and wrote many stories, short plays, diaries, letters and left three fragments of his novel. Before his death he ordered his friend Max Brod to destroy his entire estate. Brod resisted this request and thus gave the world the author’s works, which are world-famous today.
