Information for all students, parents and teachers

Building measures for increased fire safety
The Qatar authorities, and especially the Ministry of Education, are increasing fire safety measures in all Qatari school and administrative buildings. For example, a number of new doors are installed at our school and a sprinkler system is set up according to my information. Also, the water pressure pump will be renewed and the staircases are adapted to make the escape routes safer.

These fire protection measures are still ongoing. However, I would like to thank the Qatari government, especially the Ministry of Education, for including the school building of the DIS Doha in these security measures. The coordination and investment of these construction measures is carried out by construction companies commissioned by the Ministry of Education. The costs are covered by the Ministry of Education.

Recognition by German authority
Since December 2016, our school has not only been permanently qualified for examination, but has been officially recognized by the highest body of the ministries of education of the federal states in Germany as a permanent recognized German School Abroad. This is a nice result. So far, we have been recognized by the Central Office for German Schools Abroad and now also by all other federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany. Curricula as well as hourly schedule as well as all regulations are fully recognized.

Half-Year Report
On 26 January 2017 the pupils receive the half-year certificate. They provide a mid-year balance and it enables you and your child, as well as the teachers, to face the challenges of the second half-year and to continue to develop the performance.
The lessons end on 26 January at 2.35 pm.
I wish the school community a nice term break holiday.

Dates:

  • January 24 – Visit of the U17 football team Eintracht Frankfurt
  • February 5 – First school day after the holiday
  • February 7 – Carnival in school and Kindergarten

In the last two lessons we will celebrate Carnival in the school. The pupils are allowed to come dressed up to school on this day.
Please do not give your child a confetti, also cartridges for toy guns and toy pistols are expressly not allowed!
  • February 13th – Second Teacher-Parent Meeting in the school

didacta – educational fair, 14. to 18. February 2017 in Stuttgart
The DIS Doha participates in Didacta, Germany’s largest educational fair for teachers, educators and interested parties. We have our own stand and thus the opportunity to get in contact with applicants for the school and kindergarten directly. The headmaster is accompanied by Mrs. Mora, the head of the administration, Mrs. Friessleben, as well as the parent’s representative, Mrs. Fecht. We will report from this stand in Doha.
The Didacta will take place from 14 to 18 February 2017 in Stuttgart.
