How do you actually grade for IB® in the Upper School?

14. March 2021 von Deutsche Internationale Schule

Grading scale
The grading scale ranges from “7” (= excellent) to “1” (= very low). The lowest passing grade is “4” (= satisfactory).
A total of 42 points can be achieved in the six examination subjects of the IB Diploma. Including up to three additional points of the ‘additional requirements’, a maximum of 45 points can be achieved. The minimum score required to pass the IB Diploma is 24 points.

For the IB Diploma to be recognized as a German university entrance qualification, the minimum score of 24 points for passing the Diploma Programme is required. In addition, a maximum of one low graded subject with a grade of “3” may be awarded. However, this grade must be compensated by at least a grade “5” or better at the same course level (‘Level’).
More than one grade “3” or lower will prevent recognition of the IB. In these cases, a make-up exam should be taken to improve the grade.
