As part of the Katara Jazz Festival, the German jazz band “Matti Klein Soul Trio” visited our school and held a workshop with our school band.
The musicians began by playing a short concert for the secondary school students. Their pieces gave the students an insight into their musical work and offered them the opportunity to experience jazz live. Many students actively participated and were motivated to join in.
Afterwards, our school band – Emma, Julia, Anni, and Mike – received a two-hour workshop with the musicians. Together, they worked on the piece “Feel Like Dancing.” The focus was on musical arrangement, ensemble playing, and tips on instrumental technique and stage presence.
At the end, they recorded the song together, which can be seen in the attached video. For our band members, this exchange was an enriching experience that gave them new musical inspiration.
