On December 17, 2025, the German International School in Doha celebrated Qatar National Day in an atmosphere of pride, community, and cultural diversity. The morning was dedicated to promoting cohesion, creativity, and learning about Qatari culture.
The celebrations began with a ceremonial opening featuring the playing of the Qatari national anthem, a recitation from the Holy Quran, and the reading of a hadith. The principal, Mr. Darmstädter, then officially opened the event in the Main Hall and emphasized the significance of the national holiday in his speech, highlighting the importance of cultural appreciation.
A special highlight of the morning was the musical performances by the students. With songs such as “Qatar, Qatar!” and “O Home of Love” as well as impressive poems, the children and young people expressed their attachment to Qatar. The Qatari Ardah dance performance, which reflected the strength, unity, and rich tradition of the country, also generated great enthusiasm. The program was complemented by an informative “Did you know?” section, which presented exciting facts about Qatar.
Afterwards, the students took part in a variety of workshops and interactive stations that introduced them to Qatari culture in a creative and interactive way. Particularly impressive were the artistic works and models created by the students, which were inspired by well-known places and landmarks in Qatar. These works of art impressed with their beauty and creativity and were very well received by everyone present, including the parents.
The camel riding activity and the opportunity to take photos with a falcon were also particularly enjoyable – experiences that brought the traditional side of Qatar to life for the students. Another highlight was the henna artist, whose intricate designs were a source of visible delight for both children and parents alike, adding an extra cultural touch to the festival.
At the end of the event, the entire school community gathered to bring the program to a close and get an overview of the various stations. The day left a lasting impression on everyone involved and underscored the strong sense of community at our school.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all the teachers and staff who made this special day possible through their commitment and careful organization. Special thanks go to the organizing team and to Mr. Reichel for his valuable organizational support. We would also like to thank the school administration, the housekeeping staff, and the cleaning team, whose efforts contributed significantly to the smooth running and success of this celebration.
