On Easter Monday morning everything was prepared for an Easter egg hunt outside in the grass with colorful hard-boiled eggs.
I hid the eggs at around 8.45 am to start the egg hunt at 9.10 am.
It started so well. The children were very enthusiastic and so proud when they found the egg in their name. But then there was this tiny little hole in each egg, to prevent the breaking of the shell while boiling, and this was too inviting to all these thousands of ants we have in the garden. I think that there were at least a hundred ants hiding in many of our eggs. It was fascinating to see them endlessly coming out of the little hole in the egg. Fascinating – and a bit too much for the children. At least, the eggs were yummy for the ants and later on we watched a short clip about the ‘architecture’ of an egg.
