We are currently all living in a new reality with the restricted possibility to move and exercise. The sport activities need to be done within 4 walls with no opportunity to meet friends and play team sport. This is where creativity starts and new ideas come to mind.
Apart from 2 weekly lessons being sent, all the students from class 4 onwards were given a chance to participate in a 12 days sport challenge: jumping jacks challenge for classes 4 to 6 and a plank challenge for classes 7 to 10.
Pupils of classes 4, 5 and 6 over a 12 day period needed to count how many jumping jacks they performed everyday against a given time and record each result which by the end of the challenge was sent to our sport teacher Mrs. Hoerlin.
Higher classes were trying to achieve a progressing goal every day of holding a plank, to then by the end of day 12 reach a minimum hold of 90sec.The aim of this challenge was not only to get students active, but also for them to see that constant hard work brings benefits of improvement in strength and fitness.
70 students participated and many of them had made great progress. Each pupil got a personal feedback and some recommendations. All participants have been rewarded with bonuses for extra activities in sport which in result may help them obtaining a better final grade in sport.
Congratulations to all who have committed themselves to a 12day workout. Stay strong and healthy!
Marcelina Hoerlin
