The traditional annual Mayball jointly organised by German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar (AHK) and German Business Council Qatar (GBCQ) was held recently.

The event was well attended by the German and international business community of Doha. Local singer Keyali Mayaga and her band, and ‘Hopeless? The Rockbankers’ from Frankfurt, Germany, a band of Mark Pohlmann, head of Investment Banking UBS Germany, added to the high spirit of the evening.

Michael Bothe, known as the famous DJ MOrange from Munich, encouraged the guests to dance and enjoy the evening to the full.

Mathias Kruse, chargé d’affaires at the German embassy in Qatar, was the guest of honour.

Yasmin Fürstmann, general manager, AHK, and Boris van Thiel, chairman, GBCQ, the hosts of the evening, thanked GBCQ’s annual diamond sponsor IBQ, strategic partner ecoQ and platinum sponsors Gulf Agency Company Qatar and Deutsche Lufthansa AG.

There was also a raffle draw with various prizes. Students of the German School Doha were selling the raffle tickets among the guests and presenting a German traditional children’s dance.

The proceeds of the raffle were donated to Nikolaus Kircher, principal of German School Doha, a non-profit organisation, by Louis Tomassoni, head of products and services, IBQ Qatar, Thiel and Fürstmann.
