In our opinion, the image of the kindergarten not only comprises the exterior design of the building and the rooms but also the design of information, especially the information for parents.
In designing the kindergarten area, we attach importance to a child-friendly feel-good atmosphere. Many works of art by children are displayed in front of the group rooms. Thus, parents get an insight into our work with their children. This also serves to create a better sense of well-being and is conducive to communication between parents and children and parents and educators.
The information for parents and additional information about upcoming events and festivals are posted at appropriate locations in the school on notice boards and sent via e-mail. Notification by e-mail ensures that information gets to all parents. In addition, we present our work on the school website and on Facebook
Talks with parents and information and feedback from the parents are important to us. This not only contributes to a better image but also to an improvement of our work.
Parents’ cooperation in the kindergarten of the DIS Doha
Parents’ cooperation begins with the registration of the child. Parents can get an idea of our kindergarten and of how our work is done. It is important to us that both the child and the parents feel comfortable at our kindergarten and that they understand our educational goals.
Only if the parents and the child feel comfortable and understand that the education within the family and that at our premises complement each other in a cooperative partnership, an optimal promotion and the child’s positive development are possible. Therefore, good cooperation is very important to us.
Introductory Evening Meeting – Parent-Teacher Conference
At the beginning of the school year, an introductory evening meeting takes place for the exchange of detailed information between parents and teachers. Parents are informed about the rules of the kindergarten. In addition, this evening meeting offers parents the opportunity to get to know each other.
Settling-in period
The settling-in period is a sensitive period for all children, as they are often cared for outside the family for the first time. Therefore, it is advisable that parents spend a few hours in the group room, in consultation with the teachers, until the children are used to the new situation and have gained trust in the new teacher.
Parent-teacher briefing
This is the most common form of daily contact between parents and teachers. It is the daily opportunity for parents and teachers to exchange information on occurrences at home, in kindergarten or on the group’s daily routine.
Parent-teacher dialogue on the child’s development
These dialogues are one-on-one meetings conducted either on our initiative or initiated by the parents. Topics mainly include the child’s personal development, the current situation, behaviour, emotional state, preferences or friends. The purpose of this conversation is intended to understand the child better and to support it appropriately at home and in kindergarten.
Parent-teacher dialogue on the child’s development in the last year of kindergarten
This parent-teacher dialogue on the child’s development is mandatory for all children in the last year of kindergarten and takes place once a year with the preschool teacher. In this conversation, the child’s state of development and educational objectives are discussed. Lists for parents to enter their preferred date and time will be posted in good time.
Parent’s Association
The Parents’ Association is comprised of parent representatives, who are elected at the beginning of the school year at a parent-teacher conference. The Parents’ Association represents the interests of parents in discussions with teachers and the board. The parents of the Parents’ Association are the contacts not only for the parents of the kindergarten but also for the staff and the board of the day care centre. They receive requests, suggestions and proposals of parents, review them and bring them to the attention of the Kindergarten management and the board. Thus, the Parents’ Association speaks for all the parents in kindergarten.
Active participation
We are very grateful for any kind of active participation of parents in our kindergarten, especially in co-organising of celebrations, trips or projects. The commitment of our parents is very important to us and is accompanied by our support.
