On November 20th, Deutsche International Schule Doha (DISD) celebrated its official inauguration into their well equipped and spacious school which was kindly donated by the Qatari government. The five year old school was previously housed in a villa that could not accommodate the fast-growing number of pupils joining DISD.The evening included a musical performance by the Doha Baroque Ensemble and charming singing and dancing presentations from the Primary School children. Grade four students made welcoming remarks in German, Arabic and English, giving the school opening a true international feeling. The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Frau Angelika Storz-Chakarji addressed the guests with an inspiring and impressive speech in Arabic. Furthermore, the speeches given by Herr Kircher, the DISD Headmaster, Mrs. Fawziya Abdalaziz Al. Khater, the Director of Private Schools Office (SEC), and Oliver Moritz, the Chairman of the Board, demonstrated the genuine respect, support and friendship between the school and Qatari government. This evening marked a new beginning for Deutsche Internationale Schule Doha, a school which not only leads by academic performances, but more importantly strives to instill respect, compassion and responsibility in its students.
