The basic principles for the promotion of educational processes are described according to the ”module for the last year in elementary education“ (Charlotte Bühler Institute, 2010) by the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth. These principles are based on the Ministry’s understanding of education and the acquisition of necessary skills for a successful transition into school.
In the last year of kindergarten, offers for children are based on self-motivated active learning in the group.
The transition from kindergarten to school needs careful preparation. In order to ensure a smooth transition from kindergarten to school, an age-appropriate program for these children takes place once a day in cooperation with the primary school, which is carried out in part by a primary school teacher. The children meet in small groups in a special ”preschool classroom”. School routines are learned in a playful manner. Here, children can socialize with other pre-schoolers, make friends and gain special learning experiences.
We work closely together with the primary school and specifically support our children in the last year of kindergarten in achieving a variety of skills.
The preschool teacher is given the opportunity to promote and support children intensively in small groups in their individual development with respect to the areas listed below.
- Perception
- Gross and fine motor skills
- Creativity
- Social-emotional skills
- Cognitive skills
- Mathematical precursor skills
- Cultural sensitivity
- Knowledge of the world
- Learning strategies
- Language skills
In the last six months, more interesting activities for the children in the last year of kindergarten take place. During an observation hour in school, they learn about the course of a lesson and the break. Each child is teamed up with a buddy from first grade, who accompanies him or her that day through the school.
Spending a night in the nursery is also a great experience for the kids.
A regular exchange with ‘German as a Foreign Language’ teachers, teachers and the cooperation teachers takes place.
