The German International School Doha was founded in 2008 as a German public school. The academic quality as well as its multicultural profile make it one of the outstanding educational institutions in the country of Qatar. The school is located in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and offers kindergarten, primary and lower secondary education, as well as a Mixed Language International Baccalaureate® (GIB). It was awarded the „Excellent German School Abroad“ seal of quality in 2018.

Our all-day school is divided into Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary I and Secondary II. Special emphasis is placed on the encounter of cultures, the multilingualism of the students and their individual support. Apart from the IB subjects Mathematics, Chemistry, CAS, ToK and English lessons are taught in German and from Years 1 to 10 according to the quota of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Free State of Thuringia.

Responsibilities

• Teach English to students at the secondary school level
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans in accordance with the school’s curriculum
• Foster students‘ critical thinking, communication, reading, and writing skills
• Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
• Maintain accurate student records, assessments, and progress reports
• Participate in faculty meetings, conferences, and school activities
• Conduct parent-teacher meetings and maintain effective communication with parents
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning practices
• Support the academic, social, and personal development of students
• Integrate digital tools and technology into classroom instruction
• Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in English Language and Literature, along with a Diploma in Secondary Education
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience
• Native English speaker
• Valid teaching certification and experience teaching within the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge of German is considered an advantage
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
• Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work well under pressure
• Very good IT skills
• Experience delivering digital/online teaching sessions
• Commitment to continuous professional development and further training
