At the invitation of Ms. Sejla Karic-Kovac, German Language Coordinator at the TII Language Center of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), our principal Kai Darmstädter and German as a Foreign Language (DaF) Coordinator Thamer Hmaidi visited HBKU. In addition to a tour of the Language Center and the impressive mosque, the focus was on discussions about language programs.
The Language Center offers language courses in 12 languages for children, youths and adults, including German and French. It is also an official examination facility for the Goethe Certificates A1 to B2, which are conducted in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Abu Dhabi.
Students who are non-native speakers also take the A1 to B2 levels in the German International School in Doha’s DaF courses, which are led by Herr Hmaidi and Frau Reichel.
Mr. Boualem Yahiaoui, French Language Coordinator, also took part in the meeting. Like the German Language Center, the French Language Center prepares students for the DELF certificate exams.
The German International School in Doha is currently working on offering DELF preparation courses for interested students.
Finally, the German as a Foreign Language faculty was invited by Ms. Karic-Kovac to take part in the training course “Training Making Every Class Count”. We would like to thank her for the invitation and look forward to further cooperation!
