Our Class Trip to the National Museum

9. February 2023 von Tamás Prágay-Szabó

On Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, classes 3a and 3b of the German International School Doha went to the National Museum with their class teachers.

We boarded the buses at 9:00 am and arrived at the museum at 9:20 am. At the museum, we first put our bags in the checkroom. After that, we were to explore the museum. There were many movies projected on the walls and very many game activities where we could learn about the history and life in Qatar. For example, there were huge shells that you could talk into, and sounds would come out of them. That was great. There were also desert animals, insects and water animals on display. We saw many vases and utensils from earlier times of Qatar.  There was also glittering jewelry and weapons.

After we finished visiting the museum, a few kids wanted to go to the light exhibition. In the meantime, the other children looked at the old palace and were able to splash water on each other at an old fountain. Later we went to the playground. There we were going to have our picnic and both classes put their brought food on a long table. There were many different delicious things to eat. Hot dogs, muffins, pizza and much more. A few moms stopped by as well. Next to the playground there was a dark bat cave. We visited that and Patrick slept there for a bit. On the playground there was a big pirate ship. There we all played hide and seek together and fought as terrible pirates.

Afterwards, some kids went to the souvenir store and bought nice things. At 2:00 p.m. we got back on the bus and went back to school. On the bus, Josefa’s water bottle leaked and some of her things got wet. When we arrived at the school at 2:35 pm, the bell just rang, and our parents could pick us up. We all had a lot of fun that day.
