Last fall, classes 4a and 4b carried out a joint social studies project on the subject of “planets and stars”. Research and reading took place, but not all the children’s questions could be answered. What could be more obvious than asking a real astronaut how he e.g. prepares for such a flight, what there is to eat up there, how long he stays in space, and ask ”100“ more questions?
No sooner said than done … Letters were written to the German ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer, who will fly to the moon this year, in which the children wrote down everything they wanted to know.
The collected letters from the children were sent to the European Astronaut Center (EAC) in Cologne in October 2019. Would Mr. Maurer answer ???
… A week ago, the children finally got the long-awaited answer! The wait was worth it and the joy was huge! Thank you, dear Matthias Maurer!
