Dear students and parents,
We are very pleased to inform you that this year, students at the German International School will once again have the opportunity to take part in “Jugend musiziert”, the largest German music competition.
The competition is divided into three rounds: the regional competition, the state competition and the national competition.
The process for our school is as follows: On December 12, 2024, an internal qualifier for the regional competition will take place at the DIS-Doha. The actual regional competition will then be held from January 15 to 18, 2025 at the German School Helsinki. The winners of the regional competition will take part in the national competition at the German School Brussels from March 19 to 24, 2025. Those who continue their success there will then take part in the national competition in Wuppertal from June 5 to 11, 2025.
Children and young people up to the age of 21 can compete in various solo or ensemble categories. These categories are determined by the competition in a three-year cycle. This year, the following categories are available:
Solo category
string instruments
accordion
percussion
Singing (Pop)
Ensemble category
Piano chamber music
Duo: piano and a wind instrument
Vocal ensemble
Harp ensemble
Plucked string instruments
Special instrumentations
Early music
Baglama Ensemble
Hammered dulcimer ensemble
