There is a one-hour rest period (siesta) for the children after lunch in our kindergarten. It starts at 12.30 pm and ends at 1.30 pm. During this time children are given the opportunity to have a lie-down in a separate room. It is necessary for children to have a retreat where they can rest in order to deal with the day’s experiences. It is important that children experience a regular routine.
Each child has his or her own bed and a personal space, where he or she can put their own blanket, pillow, and cuddly toy or cuddle cloth. This resting phase is crucial for the physical and emotional development of children. Some children need a lot of sleep, some less sleep, and not all children need the same amount of rest every day. We act according to their needs and create an place for the children where they can rest and relax and provide an atmosphere that gives them the feeling of security and shelter.
