Portfolio
Each child at kindergarten receives a folder in which various documents showing the development of each child are collected, i.e., drawings, photographs of the child taken at various activities, their writings, learning history etc. This portfolio illustrates the educational biography of the child in a differentiated manner and serves as a reflection of the learning experiences of the child. We make the portfolio available to our children for browsing through the items contained therein at any time in order to make them aware of their learning progress and skills. As a lot of content, i.e., playing with blocks or planting a flower, cannot be described by means of words, photographs are an important aspect of the portfolio. Using the photographs helps children to recall certain situations and feelings.
Development Reports
Every year the teachers write a development report to determine the level of development of the child. This report is intended solely as documentation within the DIS Doha. We document learning and development steps, educational processes and social relationships of the child. In addition, much attention is paid to all competencies.
In our kindergarten, children aged 4–6 are also tested using the “Marburg speech screening” test in order to make a precise statement about the linguistic development.
