Captain of the FC Bayern Munich women’s team Melanie Behringer as a guest of the DIS Doha

On Sunday, January 28th, 2018, the DIS Doha students were able to enjoy the visit of Melanie Behringer from the FC Bayern München women’s team. Melanie Behringer is the captain of the FC Bayern Munich Women’s Bundesliga team, world champion, Olympic champion, German champion, cup winner and a player on the German women’s national team.

More than 70 students asked her questions about football and especially about women’s football. Everybody got very excited when Melanie Behringer handed out an autograph card to each student and was patiently available for individual and group photos.

For the first time, the women’s squad can train in optimal conditions for their second half of the season at the nearby Aspire Academy, and are pleased to be able to support the Qatar Women’s Sport Committee to promote women’s football in Qatar. The men’s national team has been training at the Academy in Doha since 2011.

We also welcomed the following guests:
Ms. Bianca Rech (Team Manager), Ms. Karin Danner (Head of Women’s Football FC Bayern München) and Mr. Christopher Keil (Head of Public Affairs & CSR FC Bayern München). The event was filmed by the club’s own FC Bayern TV channel.
