Each year the ”Qatar Museums Authority“ organizes a bilateral cultural year which simultaneously takes place in Qatar and the respective guest country. Exhibitions, concerts, festivals, workshops and conferences constitute the diverse programme with which mutual understanding and respect will be enhanced.
In 2017 ”The German Saison Qatar“ constitutes the Qatar German Year of Culture. Together with the German Embassy in Doha, the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region organizes events in the fields of art, music, film, literature, education, science, economy, and sports. These events take place from February until April/May and September to December 2017.
It goes without saying that cultural exchange at the German International School Doha and its Kindergarten is part of the programme and everyday life: In our school there are pupils and parents of Qatari origin, we teach Qatari history as obligatory subject and regularly visit the museums in Doha like Mshreib and Museum of Islamic Art in order to constitute a fundamental knowledge of the culture of the country they live in.
Furthermore, the school and especially our German teachers and pupils transmit German traditions and cultural values. The German language is intensively promoted and taught. Also national holidays as well as traditional customs are observed.

On February 1 the German Season Qatar will officially be opened with a big concert of the Qatar Symphonic Orchestra in the presence of the former Federal President Dr. Christian Wulff and other guests.
