We vote – Political education very close to reality !
As in Germany, the pupils of Secondary II also elected on 24. September 2017. The “Junior Election” was a high-professional mini version of the Bundestag election. A great project!
The “Junior Election” (founded in 1999) was developed by the association “Kumulus e.V.”, Berlin and is a concept for political education. All secondary German schools can participate. The interest in political education in schools this year was greater than ever before – with more than 3,400 participating schools and almost one million young people there was a record participation in the “Junior Election” for the 2017 Bundestag election!
At our school the choice was made with classes 9–12.
The teaching preparation and follow-up of the junior election took place in the course of social studies by the teachers Julia Karnebogen and Sven Dorn. In addition to this, presentations of the electoral programs of the parties were made, as well as further project work.
