“Cosmic Kiss” is what Matthias Maurer calls his upcoming mission into space. The name “is his declaration of love for the cosmos,” the German astronaut explains. The title is intended to emphasize the importance of the ISS as a link between space and Earth.
On 31.10.2021, Matthias Maurer, a female colleague and two male colleagues will fly to the International Space Station ISS in a SpaceX Crew Dragon rocket after years of preparation!
We are especially happy for him, because the students of the current class 6 of the DIS-Doha already know him a little better …
With science teacher Frank Dieudonné, they had worked interdisciplinary in the class 4 on the topic “Stars and Planets” and at the end of the lesson they wrote personal letters with their questions and thoughts to Mr. Maurer. The collected letters were then sent to Germany, to the European Astronaut Center (EAC) in Cologne. It was not long before the reply arrived with personal greetings (see photo)!
Good luck on your journey, Mr. Maurer!
