The Christmas season begins on the 1st of four Sundays before December 24. This is the “First Advent” in Germany.
Everyone is looking forward to the big and small outdoor markets, which hopefully will be able to take place this year. The most beautiful thing is to stroll through the stalls in the icy cold and with luck a little snow. You eat roasted almonds, cotton candy, candied apples and chestnuts and sip hot drinks before perhaps quickly buying a few small things for the festivities.
