October 3rd is a big event at the DIS Doha every year and is always celebrated in a special way. The morning started with a festive speech of our principal Diana Guthmann and the playing of the German national anthem. The kindergarten, primary school and secondary school then marked the day in a variety of ways. Some classes had a joint breakfast/picnic with German specialties such as pretzels and Black Forest cake, followed by workshops and many other small projects, all lovingly prepared on the theme of Germany.
A special surprise awaited the students of the lower secondary school. Under a pretext, the classes were lured into the auditorium one by one. What the students didn’t know was that the teachers had already turned the room into an “Escape Room” full of riddles and tricky tasks. Great was the amazement when a distorted voice announced the countdown and sent the students into the adventure. In the end, two classes managed to solve all the puzzles in the allotted time, enter the correct code into the laptop and “escape.” Others were thwarted by time. Everyone clearly had fun.
A successful day that awakens anticipation for next year!
