Last week 6th-grade biology classes covered the topic of the human spine. The students learned about its anatomical structure and how regular exercise, sports, and a balanced diet contribute to a healthy back.
With the help of a special guest, Doctor Alio an orthopedic specialist from Al Emadi Hospital, the children explored questions such as:
What is good posture when sitting, standing, or walking?
How high should my laptop be to avoid back pain?
What should I keep in mind when carrying my school bag or riding my bike?
With illustrative examples and child-friendly analogies, such as “ One should walk as upright as if one were a king or queen,” and practical exercises, Dr. Alio’s content was conveyed in a lively and age-appropriate manner. The students asked many questions and shared their own experiences with back pain, a sign of how interested they were in the topic.
By the end of the session, everyone agreed: this was a special biology lesson that will be remembered for a long time. We would like to thank Dr. Alio for making this lesson a highlight of our biology class!
