Steffi König
Since January 2025, I am delighted to lead the DIS Doha primary school with curiosity and great respect.
What is important to me:
For me, school is a place of life and learning. It is a space where children are welcome with their own questions, ideas, and strengths. Learning is successful when it takes place in an atmosphere of trust, clarity, and mutual respect. At the same time, structure, reliability, and targeted support are needed to give children security and guidance.
My educational approach:
For me, good education thrives on balance: between creative approaches and proven teaching methods, between individual development and collaborative learning. I value traditional subject teaching as well as open forms of learning, projects, and interdisciplinary ideas that spark curiosity and encourage contextual thinking.
My path:
I completed my teacher training at Justus Liebig University in Giessen, studying English, mathematics, and German. I have worked at elementary and secondary schools as well as universities in Germany, Switzerland, and the US, which has allowed me to get to know a wide variety of educational cultures.
My connection to DIS Doha:
We already lived in Qatar as a family from 2018 to 2020. Now we have returned with our three children. Two of them currently attend the DIS Doha kindergarten, and the oldest will start school in the new school year. This means that I have a personal connection to the school community as well as a professional one.
What I stand for:
Taking children seriously means both challenging and encouraging them. Clear structures are just as important as creative freedom, where their own ideas can grow. We want to give children the tools they need: solid knowledge, social skills, self-confidence, and the ability to take responsibility for their own learning.
My goal:
A school that appeals to both the heart and the mind, where children not only learn what is important, but also discover what they are capable of. A school where they can calculate, write, research, play, laugh, and find a little more of themselves every day.
