What happens when you leave an egg in vinegar overnight? The next morning, suddenly the whole eggshell was dissolved. Why does vinegar dissolve the eggshell? The eggshell consists mostly of lime and when lime comes into contact with an acid, such as vinegar, the lime is attacked and dissolved. We then colored the egg and shined the light on it. That was great!
