FAQ DaF

Conditions of admission

Admission to the IB Diploma Programme® at DIS Doha is granted following a thorough consultation with the school administration, the GIB coordinator, and the Grade 10 teachers.

Students in the academic track who are already enrolled at the school must demonstrate a minimum grade of 2 in English, a minimum grade of 3 in the subjects relevant to the GIB, and an overall average of at least 3.0 in all major and minor subjects.

Students in the Realschule track who are already enrolled at the school, as well as students from other schools or other countries, must demonstrate a grade of at least 1 in English, a grade of at least 2 in the subjects relevant to the GIB, and an overall average of at least 2.0 in all major and minor subjects.

Admission to Grade 11 of the GIB is decided by the Grade 10 faculty meeting. In addition to performance in written and oral subjects, work ethic and social behavior also play a significant role in admission to the IB Diploma Programme®.

Students from other schools may be admitted to DIS Doha under certain conditions:

Sufficient German language proficiency at a minimum C1 level must be demonstrated.

In English, a minimum grade of 2 (according to the German grading system) must be achieved; in GIB-relevant subjects, a minimum grade of 3; and an overall average of at least 3.0 in all major and minor subjects. For students in the German Realschule track, the conditions outlined in the previous section apply.

An admission interview is held with the students and their parents; it lasts approximately 20 minutes and is conducted partly in English and partly in German. It serves to allow both parties to get to know each other and to assess the student’s motivation.

Admission is based on academic performance and the admission interview, in consultation with the subject teachers. The decision on admission is made before the final course selection.

The annual application deadline for students who are not yet enrolled at DIS Doha at the time of application is April 30.

The following documents must be submitted with the application:

bilingual resume

completed school registration form

if applicable, proof of extracurricular activities (documents/certificates)

Admission to Grade 12 is generally not possible.
