As principal of the GIS Doha I will briefly introduce myself: My name is Dirk Dillschneider and I teach Chemistry and Biology. From 2010 to 2013 I was didactic director followed by vice principal of the Luxembourg Schengen \u2013 Lyceum in Perl. My former school was a multinational school in the heart of Europe. I am excited to lead the GIS Doha, because the encounter with people from multiple cultures is very important to me. By taking over the leadership of the GIS Doha in the school year 2015\/16, with its diverse multinational offers, I have the exciting task of designing the following school years with my team and you dear parents. The school will teaches in the next school year the first IB class – an exciting challenge. In addition, from January 1, 2017 the German-Qatari Culture year will start.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\nMore Information about the new school year at the GIS Doha and the Kindergarten<\/h3>\n
\nThe first day of kindergarten is Sunday, September 4th, 2016 and starts at 7:45-8:00 am with welcoming all the families in the auditorium of the school. Please plan sufficient time to accompany your child. During the first week the kindergarten ends for all children at 1:05 pm. From the second week on all the children which were already during the school year 2015\/16 in our kindergarten, can stay already to 2:25 pm and for working parents to 3:25pm. All children which are new in our kindergarten are still picked up at 1:05 pm because of the settling-in period. Starting from October 18th, 2016 and after agreement with the group teacher, the new children also can stay over lunch time and as well for the nap-time.<\/p>\n
\nOn Wednesday, September 20th, 2016 at 7:30 \u2013 8:30 pm all parents are invited to attend the first parents’ evening at the kindergarten. Then the parents’ representatives will be elected and the group teachers give parents information about the weekly schedule of children.<\/p>\n
\n1st pick up time at 12:30 pm or
\n2nd pick-up time at 2:25pm resp. 3:25pm for working parents.
\nThe kindergarten closes at 3.30pm.<\/p>\n
\nThe first day of school is Monday, September 5th, 2016. It will start at 8:00 am in the auditorium of the school. Here, it is tradition for students to arrive along with their parents and a Candy Cone. Please, don\u2019t just fill the cone with candy. At the beginning the new principal will introduce the new teachers and then the students will be assigned to the new Grades 1a and 1b accordingly, followed by a short program presented by Grade 2.<\/p>\n
\nFirst day of school for grade 2-11 is Sunday, September 4th, 2016. Classes will start at 7:50 am and finish at 1:05 pm. Starting from the second week, classes will take place according to schedule.<\/p>\n
\nThe school grounds will open at 7am, the supervision starts from 7:30 am in front of the school building, which will open at 7:40 am. Classes start at 7:50 am.<\/p>\n
\nSchool hours: 7:50am to 2.35pm, supervision of pupils until 3.25pm is possible. Fee-based after school activities are offered later than 3.25pm<\/p>\n![\"Zeitliche](\"https:\/\/www.ds-doha.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Zeitliche-Gliederung-Schultag_Timings-Schoolday.png\")

\nThe studied subjects are listed in the lesson table above. The language of instruction is normally German, however selected classes are taught bilingual. The school offers additional to the regular schedule, in order to take into account the country-specified background, Islamic studies, Arabic as well as Qatar History. You will be further informed about the pedagogic concepts and offers.<\/p>\n
\nOf course the colleagues of the DIS Doha offer individual consultation hours for you. Appointments can be made via the student directly with the respective teacher.<\/p>\n
\nThe school offers, additional to the German lessons, German as a foreign language (DaF) and German as a second language (DaZ), with designated teaching staff. In addition – depending on the spatial and personnel requirements – individual specialized lesson support can be offered. Following the lessons, partly paid extracurricular activities will be offered on availability. In addition a free supervision will be available from 2.35 \u2013 3.25pm. Supervision trough the school ends at 3.30pm. The extracurricular offer will start usually from October 2nd, 2016.<\/p>\n
\nGIS Doha currently cooperating with the Music Project Doha and seeks a partnership with the Park House School. There is also a school partnership with the \u203aTariq Bin Ziyad Independent Secondary School for Boys\u2039 in Doha, with the \u203aGerman School Sharjah\u2039 and the \u203aGerman-Luxembourg Schengen Lyceum\u2039 in Perl in southwestern Germany. Further cooperation will be carried out in future.<\/p>\n
\nAlso in the school year 2016\/17 the \u201eRetaj Hotel\u201c will be responsible for the lunch catering service. Lunch will be offered from October 18th, 2016. The costs for lunch for kindergarten kids and Grade 1-3 [Group I] is 21 QAR per meal, for all other Grades [Group II] 24 QAR The registration for the first quarter of the participation in the lunch takes place in the first school week from September 4th – 8th, 2016. Applications accepts the reception. For organizational reasons, only applications for a full quarter can be accepted. The application forms will be emailed to you and can be downloaded on our website.<\/p>\n
\nThe students receive their school books as a package on the first days of classes.<\/p>\n
