Sankt Martin Celebration<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The lights of the kindergarten and primary school children shone brightly on Monday the 11th of November during the Sankt Martins celebration. Milk cartons, water bottles and balloons were transformed into brightly shining fish and elephant lanterns. Using their creativity and imaginations, the children designed and constructed lanterns. A long train of enthusiastic singers paraded with their lanterns through the large outdoor area of the German International School. Siblings, parents and friends accompanied the children and Sankt Martin songs were sung joyfully into the night. Knowing the story about how Sankt Martin selflessly helped his fellow man, the children reflected on ways they could aid others. \u00a0At the end of the evening the children partook in singing a cannon about the importance of light and love in the \u2018winter\u2019 season: \u201cLanterns softly, softly, softly light friendship into the world, and brighten the way as it brightens up our hearts.\u201d Upon leaving the festival, each child received a personally labeled homemade Sankt Martin man cookie as a gift. Many thanks to the children of the after-school Baking programme and to the helping hands of the parents! It was a night to remember. We are already looking forward to next year!<\/p>\n

A Sankt Martin report by Class 3<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The whole primary school has created lanterns.\u00a0All of the students met at school 17:15 o\u2019clock. Each child brought his or her lantern. After everyone arrived, Class 2 acted out a play about Sankt Martin. Then we all began to walk in a Sankt Martin parade with our lanterns. As we walked, we sang. On the trees hung candles. After the procession, we got cookies. The packets were labeled with our names. Unfortunately, the lights went out quite often. Our teacher, Frau Zenns had to keep relighting our candles, and in doing that she burned her thumb.<\/p>\n

Taping like there’s no tomorrow!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Tape is not only used to fasten wrapping paper together or to securely close boxes, but also to do much much more. This was demonstrated on 3rd<\/sup> and 4th<\/sup> November when students of the German International School were given the opportunity to create artwork using different coloured \u2018tape\u2019. Under the guidance of two Tape Art artists from Berlin who visited the initiative of the German Embassy in Qatar, the students were given the opportunity to use their imaginations to transform a normal daily product into something extra-ordinary!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
