At the DIS-Doha, the motivation to read is an integral part of the school day. Whether it is reading aloud in class, enacting read texts, reading and understanding tasks and information texts – there are always new reading challenges for our children.<\/p>\n

Reading is first and foremost linked to the everyday joy of reading and daily reading is equally necessary at home: to improve reading skills, but also to expand and deepen German language skills.<\/p>\n

In order to keep track of how often children read at home, a “reading passport” was introduced in primary school, in which children and their parents document their reading at home.<\/p>\n

As an additional motivation, dedicated children who have completed a reading passport are publicly presented with a certificate at our primary school’s weekly “Hallo Woche” (hello week) meeting.<\/p>\n

This makes them “reading queens” or “reading kings”.
