We notice again and again that the students have to work more independently, especially in the GIB. They have to stick to the deadlines provided. The regulations set by the IBO are binding, meaning that even the DIS Doha school management and the GIB coordinator cannot override them. These rules apply equally to all students and are of high importance. The Mixed Language Baccalaureate allows students to study in Germany and waives the need to take a language test specifically in Germany to demonstrate competency, particularly in German. The GIB and the Abitur are nearly identical as university entrance qualifications. The final examinations are centrally organized in both cases. The GIB is somewhat more challenging in its requirements for independent learning. The Abitur still allows students to obtain the college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife<\/em>) after completing 11th<\/sup> grade under certain conditions; this is not possible with the GIB. This means that it is mandatory for students to take their exam after 12th<\/sup> grade, which they can still repeat a maximum of two times. 24 points must be achieved as the minimum requirement level. This corresponds to a grade of 4.0, according to the German grading system. We ask that you obtain appropriate certificates from the institutes which provide you with the tutors or that carry out projects with your students. Of course, these certificates can be used by your child later in life and will necessarily support them in their professional interests. The GIB\u00ae exams involve at least two so-called \u201cmock exams\u201d in each subject during the school year. The GIB\u00ae exams are always multi-stage. In 12th<\/sup> grade, the GIB\u00ae exams are set by the IBO and are administered according to a specific exam pattern, usually consisting of two to three parts.\u00a0 Essentially, the students have to submit a variety of different exams, as well as independent work. This means that they are required to meet deadlines for the submission of internal and external assessments. As it currently stands, students need a successful completion of 11th<\/sup> grade at the Gymnasium level. Here it is important to note that students who have achieved the Upper Level at Realschule (Mittlerer Bildungsabschluss<\/em>) can only transfer to the GIB\u00ae (Gemischtsprachiges Bakkalaureate) level at our school if they have achieved a grade average of 3 in the written subjects and a grade average of 3 in the non-written subjects. However, the student\u2019s work attitude is also important for admission to the GIB\u00ae. A final decision on admission to the GIB is made at a class conference with the participating members of the Board and the Embassy.<\/p>\n

The students receive a learning contract at the beginning of the GIB at the German International School which stipulates by which date they must have completed certain achievements. Due to the small groups that we can offer at DIS Doha, support is definitely possible. We have always done everything possible to encourage the students, to give them tips and important suggestions, to support them individually when time allowed, to prepare them for the exams. Unfortunately, we can\u2019t do the learning for them. The preparation includes a lot of instructional material, which is completed and prepared.
