Ahoy to all the Captains – Blackbeard, Redbeard and Nobeard – at DIS Doha! Where did you hide your treasure chests?
Children love the topic of pirates and the students in classes 3a and 3b were excited when we covered it in English lessons. Besides famous pirates and the components of their ships, the children learned important pirate expressions like ‘Shiver me timbers!’ or ‘Sail ho!’ and read the little book of ‘Pirate Jack’. But the highlight was the presentation of the pirate treasure chest that each child built themselves. The contents also had to be explained to the other pirates in English and mostly very attractively packaged within a little story. Afterwards, the treasures glittered in the hallway of the school building and could be admired there.
